And while the Prime Minister was dancing in Orange Walk - the UDP were licking their wounds and trying to figure out how to move forward.
Five of them won their divisions - and the two most senior persons are Tracy Panton - who is the party leader of her own faction - and first Deputy Hugo Patt who was a part of the Shyne Barrow faction.
So, does he now recognize Panton as his leader? That's what we asked him one hour ago via zoom:
Jules Vasquez
"Will you throw your support behind Tracy Panton?"
Hugo Patt, UDP First Deputy
"The message that I receive from my people is that we need to unify, and whoever wants to vie for leader, I am there to support."
Jules Vasquez
"Do you recognize her as the one true leader of the UDP?"
Hugo Patt, UDP First Deputy
"Tracy is the leader, and she will also be the leader of the opposition. No two ways about it. And the voice over there is that we need a united democratic party that is united. We cannot continue on this trend of fighting each other."
We'll have more of our conversation with Patt later on in the news.
We also reached out to Chairman Mike Peyreffite who said he'd prefer for the UDP to have a discussion on the way forward before he gives an interview.
