Will ComPol's Transition To CEO Invoke A Conflict Of Interest With His Car Dealership?
Tue, March 25, 2025
At the top of the news we told you about the Commissioner of Police and his very gradual timeline to transition to the Ministry of Transport. But when he does transition - will there be a conflict of interest? Williams, as we have reported before owns a car dealership - and it is one of the larger ones. We asked him about possible overlaps:

Jules Vasquez
"Do you think it's a conflict that you being involved with the Ministry of Transport at the highest level, being one of the largest and most successful used car dealers in the country?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"How could it be a conflict?"

Jules Vasquez
"It could be a conflict, because whenever you have these vehicles, there are various licensing irregularities or things that you need to normalize and those can be done through normal procedures. And then second, at some point, the Ministry of Transport, which has said it wants to get to standardization. The Minister of Transport will have to take a position on all these salvage title vehicles, which are throughout the country, I di drive one right now."

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Jules, when you leave from here, you go to the car lot and see what type of vehicle I import. I don't import rubbish. I make sure I input vehicles that are safe and are of good standard. That's, that's why I don't sell much because they're good vehicles, right? At the end of the day, I always do things the right way. I know for a fact that you are watching very, very closely. And, I certainly will not be cutting my pants down by you."
