And while reform and other high minded ideals are one thing - the nuts and bolts of running an opposition party is quite another. We alluded to it in our story earlier - and here's a more specific question:
Jules Vasquez
"Shyne Barrow used to like to boast, to his detriment, that he's financing this and that from his personal fortune, etc.. Unlike Mr. Barrow, you've never boasted of a personal fortune, and I'm sure you never would. But, you know, I've spoken to Mr.. Briceno about this as well, when he was in opposition, said they had to take out a huge loan. He's admitted this publicly, multi hundred thousand dollar loan. Hundreds of thousands loan he had to take out to continue to run the party. Is this a route you will have to take?"
Tracy Panton, Leader of the Opposition
"So you want to get into the belly of the party's affairs? No, sir. No, sir."
Jules Vasquez
"No, that's a question about viability. The party is viable. We have five members in the National Assembly. We have three members in the Senate. We have 31 standard bearers, caretakers. And we will do the work that is required to rebuild the party. Man, if we have to have my barbecue every month, we will find the money to rebuild the party."
