Wesley Business Students Create Market And Sell Their Own Products
Wed, April 9, 2025
Yesterday we showed you an ITVET open day in Orange Walk. And today in Belize City, Wesley College held a fair for its business students who were tasked to create a product, set up a booth and market it to other students, teachers and invited guests. Jomarie Lanza stopped by and here's what she saw:...

The school grounds at Wesley Junior College this morning were filled with colourful tents, decorated from top to bottom, with balloons, banners and streamers. These business students are attempting to attract customers with not only their colourful set up, but also their product display. There were a total of 11 business booths each offering some sort of food and or beverage, or beauty product for sale. Their business teacher says it's not just for a grade but for them to gain the overall experience of what it's like to run a business from start to finish.

Cindy Lisa Rowland, Business Teacher, Wesley College
"So actually it is a business fair and it is for the fourth form students, the business students, that is we have 2 business classes here at Wesley College. And basically its for them, they are starting up their own business, so they are displaying from the start to the finish so actually they had to prepare a business plan with their start up capital, they had to do all the background on prices etc, they had to get their finances they had to go out and get finances to do all this today so what we did is we did various different types of products. So some of them have food, some of them have beverages and some of them are doing facial products and so forth. We don't have any services here but there are all products. But if you notice they are in groups and the point of it is to work collaboratively with the group, they are supposed to have team work, they are suppose to put everything in order they are suppose to have their banner their organisational structure, you should see on the tables they should have an organisational structure of the business, they should also have their license because you know in order for them to open they have to have a license so you will see all of that their business certificate will be displayed, you will also see their name tags and you will see their business cards all of that so it's like a real business they are operating and they are supposed to make a profit in the end, in the end that is the whole idea of it. It's for them to run this business and successfully make a profit."

We also stopped by some of the booths and spoke to the students who pitched their products:

Herman Williams, Slushy Haven, Wesley College
"Because we mainly focus on quality and customer satisfaction, we usually give our customers the highest quality products that we can make and we want to satisfy their needs."

"We have at Slushy Haven we usually use like different colour slushies, with different colours, tropical, grape, lime and lemon."

"And we also have different and various toppings you can put on it like gummies if you like it spices, milk and etc."

Armin Teul, Aloe Dreams Skincare
"So our product is made out of natural ingredients such as aloe vera, turmeric powder, honey, coconut oil and corn starch."

"Because our product is made from natural ingredients and is chemical free and it leaves your skin feeling nice and refreshed."

The hot cross buns and the shakes were on point!
