Municipal Airport Screening Might Be Just The Beginning
Tue, April 22, 2025
And the Commissioner also indicated that the National Security Council may announce additional measures to secure municipal airstrips:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Immediately following the incident on Thursday, the Prime Minister had directed that we convene an emergency NSC meeting and it was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Mr Cordel Hyde. And in that meeting we discussed a number of issues including looking at security at the different aerodromes. Since then the prime minister has directed that we put police at every commercial aerodrome in the country. So you will see now that police officers are at municipal airstrips Corozal, Placencia, Punta Gorda, Dangriga so all of these airstrips now have police officers there. What is going to be done in the very very short future is that I think when the NSC convenes next week there is going to be more intense discussion in terms of the way forward where security is concerned at the aerodromes. And I think at that juncture NSC is going to issue a statement on that, on the security at these Aerodromes."
