Police are tonight reporting a chopping incident which was closely followed by a retaliatory shooting. Wayne Welch of a Rivera Street address reported to police that at around 7:00 on Saturday night his girlfriend informed him that she had been beaten by one Godfrey Gill. In response to the complaint Welch confronted Gill on Arlington Drive where they began to fight. As a result of this argument, Welch chopped Godfrey in his left arm. But the argument was not to end there as an hour later he went to pick up his girlfriend on Central American Boulevard where he was confronted by Joel Usher, Gill's brother. Welch says there was an exchange of words followed shortly by gunshots. Welch sustained a graze to the right side of his face and right upper back. Police have detained both Joel Usher and Godfrey Gill pending the result of their investigations.
