Approx. 150 Candidates To Be Nominated For Municipals Tomorrow

Tomorrow is nomination day for municipal candidates across the country. Close to about 150 candidates are expected to fill out nomination forms and offer themselves for the 67 municipal seats which are up for grabs in 7 towns and 2 cities on March 6th.

101 thousand electors will have a chance to vote for these 150 or so candidates. Notably - with graphics from the TBSL website we see that the number of eligible voters has grown by 6.6% overall since the 2021 elections.

Punta Gorda Town has the fewest number of voters, with 3,033 electors.

Belize City has the largest electorate, with 37,224 voters.

Benque Viejo del Carmen has seen the greatest increase in the the number of voters - going up by 14.91% - the largest percentage change nationally.
