For the past few nights - we've been reporting on the police search at Doris Grant's Belize City home. Though she was recently charged for 40 counts relating to an alleged land fraud for over a hundred thousand dollars, now the cops are trying to build a bigger case against her.

And this one - sources say - could be for millions. A number of Mennonites in the Orange Walk District say Grant defrauded them. A couple of them went to their Area Rep Jose Mai for help and he took them to the Prime Minister.

Today, he made it seem that he had only scant knowledge of the case - but confirmed that there is an investigation:

John Briceno, Prime Minister
"I don't know much about it. I'm told that there's been an investigation and it will go on to the DPP but the little that I've heard is simply that she allegedly... what's the word to say... I don't want to use those words but basically sold dreams to these Mennonites for land, they thought she was legit but now we find out that monies have been exchanged but they have not received the land. But again, can't comment on it because it is going out to the DPP and certainly it will go out to court."

For her part Grant says there are larger and more sinister forces at work in this investigation.
