A storm is brewing in Belize City this Saturday night , but not the kind with clouds and rain. This storm is one of leather and sweat, as two warriors collide in the ring.
Amir Rudon, the undefeated pugilist prodigy, faces off against the battle-tested "Toro," Juan Mendez. Will Rudon's youthful fire overpower Mendez's experience? Or will The Toro tame the rising star? We caught up with Rudon over the weekend who told us more.
The pre-fight buzz is high after an exciting sparring exhibition last Saturday where the super lightweight Amir Rudon showcased his impressive skills and spoke about his Guatemalan opponent.
Amir Rudon, Professional Boxer
"It seems to me that he has a power punch or a knockout punch. His record is 8 wins, three losses but 7 of his victories are by way of knockout so it seems like he is a big puncher but nevertheless I'm preparing and I'm confident in my training that we will bring the victory home next week Saturday."
"Yes one hundred percent I'm confident and next week Saturday on the fight day is also my mom's birthday and so I'll give her the victory."
And while he wants to give his mother a special birthday memory, Rudon also wants to preserve his 6 and 0 record and add to the 3 knockouts he's already recorded.
Rudon's manager attributes his growth in the sweet science to tireless dedication and extensive training.
Stephen Heusner, Manager for Amir Rudon

"Well it is going to be exciting. Amir has improved drastically and we are guaranteeing a victory and we want to see the opponent on the canvas."
