Tonight, 48 hours after she was found, no one has been arrested for the 19 year old murder of Imarie Galvez.
The sensational killing has shocked the Belmopan community - and last night residents were watching social media closely
when a very major development occurred.
But, it happened in Orange Walk, where Imarie's boyfriend, star goalkeeper Woodrow West was detained in a playoff match
between Progresso FC and his team, Verdes FC.
Cherisse Halsall has the story:
There was stunned disbelief at People's Stadium last night when the cops interrupted a playoff game and escorted
star goalkeeper Woodrow West off the pitch
He was on the pitch even as Imarie's family and friends were holding a wake
And last night when Hot Of the Press got a hold of the Commissioner of Police via phone, he told them that the cops hoped
the footballer could shed some light on the mystery of Imarie's disappearance.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We believe that he can shed some light on the investigation. There are a number of rumors going around that he
was in an abusive relationship with this particular individual and whether or not that is true is still a matter to be confirmed.
What we are picking up is that Imarie might have been at a popular night club in Belmopan on Saturday night and the last time she
was seen was sometime after midnight which would mean early Sunday morning at a night club."
But there may be some proof of that abusive relationship seen here in these cell phone videos captured over 12 months ago that show a pair violent physical and verbal altercations between West and his then 18-year-old girlfriend Imarie Galvez. It led to West's suspension and eventual dismissal from the national team.
In the second video West seems to grab Imarie in an attempt to prevent her from leaving
That's when a friend or relative steps in to attempt to separate them telling Imarie to come with him and asking West to relax.
West is then heard to say
West
"I don't give a [expletive] you're going home with me."
And then there's a threat.
West
"I will punch up your [expletive]"
A jump cut later and West is seen gesturing violently and swearing at Galvez
West
"Oh this [expletive]"
At that point he steps away, allowing their friend to try to calm the situation down. He scolds the teenager gesturing to West and saying, "I didn't even know you were with him."
But then West is coming at Imarie again with another threat. It's hard to make out the first part of his sentence apart from the words "beat up you and..." but the end of it is very clear.
West
"You will be in the hospital."
But, we stress, that happened a year or more ago - and not on Sunday morning when she disappeared. And, Woodrow West isn't the only
man the cops are questioning over Imarie Galvez's disappearance.
And yesterday when we asked Imarie Galvez's uncle about who he thinks could possibly be guilty of her death he wouldn't commit to any theories but told us he wasn't ruling anything out.
Said Enriquez, Relative of the deceased
"Well, I can't say anything about it you know because sometimes when you think, sometimes the most unexpected person is the one
that pulls off this kind of stunts so emm, you know I really can't say anything about boyfriend, girlfriend or whatnot, that is very
hard to just point at people."
Imarie's family says that they were ultimately guided to an off-road by a busito driver where they found her body.
He suggested that they check in the "Famous spot for dumping bodies."
We stress that no one has been charged and West, because of his relationship with Imarie, was only named as a person of interest.
