Since the mother's day murder of her son Tyrone Felix in 2006 - Therese Felix has been at the forefront of a peace movement. She is a founding member of the Mother's Organized for Peace and she led two successful anti-crime vigils. But tonight Therese Felix is once again grieving - as the very same violence she has been fighting against - has hit home once more. Another one of her sons was murdered over the weekend, this one was the baby in her family and it's even more puzzling than the first murder. Keith Swift reports.

"I want to know why and why and why. Why he?"

Therese Felix wants to know why her youngest son - 16 year old Faron Felix was ruthlessly gunned down on Friday night. Felix was killed here near the corner of Central American Boulevard and Faber's Road. He was killed just a few feet from his home on Gill Street and just minutes just after his mom sent him out an errand.

Therese Felix,
"My son left to go and buy habanero pepper. I don't know what went on but I sat down in here and I heard the gunshots, an amount of gunshots, and I said to myself that I had just sent Faron to go out there and Ryan was out there too. I ran out same way to the lane and when I looked I saw a crowd by the Boulevard. I started to run and when I reached by the court by Excelsior, a young boy came to me and told me it is Faron."

Faron had been shot in the right upper leg, right side of abdomen, right upper side of rib cage, and on his left hand.

Therese Felix,
"When I went to the theatre I looked at my son and I said to myself that if my little boy is living he will be a vegetable because I could see. We were there and we waited until minutes to eleven when the doctor came and the doctor told me they did all they could. I know they tried Keith. I could see they were trying to help him. The doctor came and told me that he didn't make it."

Faron was ambushed by a gunman who appeared from behind this fence and opened fire. This afternoon Therese walked with me to the area on Faber's Road where her son was shot. She says the gunman used the cover of this fence to murder Faron and she says the fence has to go.

Therese Felix,
"No light is out there, the basketball court is out there, no light is there. You can't have those fences that kind of way because you don't know what is behind the fence because the punk who shot Faron was behind the fence."

Faron is the second of Therese Felix's five sons to die and the fourth to be shot. Her son Tyrone Felix was killed on the morning of Mother's Day in 2005 - now it is her youngest son.

Therese Felix,
"This is my Christmas gift. Last year I got a Mother's Day gift same way. I didn't have any Christmas last year. Me and my children were just talking about this year's Christmas and this was my Christmas gift."

The peace activist says that with two of her sons now killed by the same violence she's been fighting against - it's hard for her to keep the peace.

Therese Felix,
"The thing which burnt me is because the killed the two of them not far from one another. Two of them got shot close to home. So what do they want to do? Play with mind? I don't want them to play with mind because they wouldn't want my mind to trip. If my mind trip, I won't just go after the person who shot him. I am out there trying and trying for peace and they are destroying me. They can't destroy anyone like that. Something has got to be done. I already didn't get justice for Tyrone, I have to get justice for this one. I have to get justice for this one. Some way, somehow but I have to get my justice. That is what I am sure of."

Justice for a son who Therese says was on the right path. So why did they execute Faron Felix?

Therese Felix,
"I want to ask them the same thing Keith. I just want to ask them why."

At the time of the shooting, Faron Felix was along with 19 year old Cordel Flores who received an injury to the ankle. Faron Felix will be buried on Thursday.

We note that Felix's son 19 year old Roy Bennett was shot on September 11th and another son Ryan Felix was shot on October 22nd. Charles Swan Jr. was charged initially charged for Tyrone Felix's murder but the charges were dropped after a witness recanted his testimony.
