There was an explosion this morning on the campus of the Anglican Cathedral
College. A ripple of panic spread across the campus because it occurred at 10:58
while students were changing classes. But, luckily, it was an over-reaction.
Principal Ismael Requena told us this evening that it was nothing more than
a dynamite - a cherry bomb – an especially loud variety. Requena says
someone hurled it onto the campus from off of the adjoining Cockburn Lane.

“The word on the street is saying that it is acid bomb and grenade
and all of that but it was a dynamite. It was hurled from over the fence and
it hit the steps and after which I was then advised by the police that since
they ascertained that it was a dynamite, we should not dismiss school and so 
we did not.”

“Do you view this as an attack?”
Ishmael Requena,
“Keith honestly I cannot say that it is an attack. I personally believe
that it is someone mischievous or some evil person who wants to cause mischief.
We take everything serious in these days and time. I will take any incident
like this in this day and age for granted and so I believe that these criminals
are holding us hostage and nobody should take anything or any incident likely.”

“Do you believe somebody was trying to cause harm to anyone who do you
think it was again just mischief?”
Ishmael Requena,
“Keith that is a difficult question and whatever I say will only be
my opinion and yes I said that it would have probably been a mischievous person
but I have no real concrete evidence on that.”
No one was injured but six students complained of pain in their ears
and visited the doctor. Again the police were called and so was the ministry
of education and the decision was taken to continue classes. The Anglican Cathedral
College has 550 students.
