Cayo police today formally charged 25-year-old Darwin Soberanis for brutally
beating a man to death with an aluminum baseball bat.
Soberanis was arraigned in court for the murder of 51-year-old Gabriel Pinelo.
Pinelo was found dead in his 18th street home in San Ignacio with a large cut
wound to the back of the head on Friday afternoon.
Police believe the motive was revenge since Pinelo had disapproved of his daughter’s
relationship with Soberanis. Pinelo was buried today in Cayo while his accused
murderer is in jail.
