The Omicron variant hasn't been identified in Belize as yet and for months now, the country has been dealing with the Delta variant. It has taken the lives of many during the third wave, but that wave seems to be slowly subsiding. Tonight, there are no new deaths to report. And while 11 hospitalizations seem like a lot - it's a low number compared to only months ago when there was a constant 30 to 50 people in the hospitals. Five of those 11 are unvaccinated, and 2 out of the 5 ICU admissions are also unvaxxed.
There were only 28 new cases to report - again, a relatively low number. 12 of those cases were identified in the Belize District and 7 in Cayo. With 47 new recoveries, the active cases have dropped to 409. The death toll remains at 591.
