Yesterday, we told you about the passing of politician Dr. Thedore Aranda, a unique and singular historic figure in Belize.
Aranda is a man that his former colleague in the UDP Micheal Finnegan has described as the only politician in Belize who vigorously fought against independence in 1981. And in the days since his death his passing has been acknowledged by some other outliers, the Belize Progressive Party and the Belize Peace Movement.
Of Aranda, the BPP has said quote: "This Belizean patriot served the nation for decades, and the lasting effects of his bold vision and exemplary service will be here with us for many years to come. He contributed to Belize's alternative political movement by joining and running for general elections on the Christian Democratic Party ticket." End quote.
And for their part, the BPM called the good Doctor, quote: "a patriot and a visionary leader."
They also acknowledged a special relationship that Aranda had developed with their party highlighting a number of projects aimed at empowering young people, Belizean patriotism and preservation of the territorial integrity of Belize that Aranada had joined them to work on.
