Tonight 41-year-old Myron Nicholas, a police officer from Belize City, is serving the second night of an 8-month prison sentence. That's after he was convicted in the Magistrate Court of sexually assaulting a young woman.
The complainant, a 24-year-old woman, told police that on March 11, 2020, Nicholas touched her inappropriately in two separate instances. When Nicholas was first arraigned, he denied the allegation. Still, the accused officer was found guilty when the case was called up for adjournment this morning before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. According to the complainant, he touched her private parts.
Due to the guilty conviction, Senior Magistrate Ford sentenced Nicholas to 6 months and eight months at the Belize Central Prison. Both sentences are to run concurrently, meaning he will spend eight months.
