Family Of Missing Man Looking For His Body
posted (January 11, 2023)
This morning, reports went out that a shallow grave had been discovered in an area off the John Smith Road. That was the general area where search teams were looking for the body of 29-year-old Christopher Sosa who has been missing for 6 days.

As we told you, the Victoria Street resident is the third person to go missing in Belize City in less than three weeks. He was last seen on Prince Street on Thursday night and was known to socialize with gang affiliates in that area.

And while Sosa's family has been on an extensive search, they have also come to terms with the possibility that they may only find his body.

And they thought they had done that this morning. But, it turns out that the report of a shallow grave off the John Smith Road was a false alarm, but Sosa's loved ones are determined to get closure. Our news team was out there to confirm that Sosa is still considered missing, and we spoke with one of his loved ones off-camera. Here's her plea for information so that the Sosa family can locate their loved one and get closure:

Voice of: Family Member, Sister
"The search everything is yielding empty. We went everywhere we could possibly think about and nothing. We know he went missing from Saturday afternoon, then we just say we would wait one more night to see if he would come home. Saturday night we waited and then Sunday I told my mom that we needed to make a report, so we went and made a missing person report and then from then rumours started to circulate something happened to my brother and from Sunday after we made the report, we started this search for my brother, but nothing."

"John Smith Road, Hattieville, we went way up to Mahogany Heights, we went way up Coastal Road, we went through [Burrell] Boom, nothing. We went through Homeland Memorial, everywhere I could possibly think bout. We even went back by Dike, some Dike back by Faber's Road I end up yesterday and nothing."

"Ma'am this might be a silly question, but please indulge me nonetheless, do you all think that you are still trying to locate him alive?"

Voice of: Family Member, Sister
"No, we are not trying to find him alive. We know he is dead. We know for a fact, but I just want them to tell me where my brother and put him to rest. We don't want anything else - I just want to find my brother."

When we left, some members of the family were still frantically searching. They did come upon a bag of bones which turned out to be a dog's remains. Reports are that clothing which may be a for a missing person was found nearby but that was not confirmed.
