Dean Urges Scrutiny Of Laundry Bid
posted (March 2, 2023)
And Flowers said that Minister Ferguson isn't the only one who we should be keeping an eye on. He then referenced the tender for the provision of laundry services which, as we told you, was put out twice in six months. Flowers feels that that was a bit shady, especially since the other two companies that had bid last time weren't even operational, and that there was no real reason to bid again.

"There is also the most recent issue in the ministry of health, where the procurement for linens is concerned. That whole process clearly there was no need for a re-tendering for that process and I think the minister in the interview to the media failed and I must say that you guys did not hold him to task. Where was there a need to re-tender when I legitimate tender was put out 6 months ago which showed that one supplier has bid excess of $300,000.00 beside the other 2 tenders who by the way had no equipment to show and I think that is what he should have responded to. I agree with him that nobody is entitled to be the sole provider of any service for government, absolutely no one, even though we know have some monopolies out here, but he did not answer the question: why did he see the need after 6 months after performing a legitimate tender which would have yielded in excess of $300,000.00 in savings to the government, to now re-tender again to companies who are startups and who clearly do not have the expertise nor the equipment to provide the quality service that the current supplies is doing."
