Belizean Jailed After Traffic Accident Kills Mexican

A Belizean taxi driver is behind bars in Chetumal, Quintana Roo tonight after he reportedly crashed into a Mexican taxi at an intersection just after midday. The accident caused the death of the Mexican driver, and an elderly lady traveling inside was also injured.

According to Mexican media, the Belizean driver, who had Corozal license plates, ran a stop sign, but he told reporters that he suffered a brake fail. Additionally, reports also state that the victim wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

The Belizean had reportedly crossed the border to do some shopping.

A Funeral Fit For Fitzroy

And finally tonight, we end with the funeral of ASP Fitzroy Yearwood. Albert and Orange Streets along with Cemetery Road were all blocked off today as the procession carrying his body made its way to St John's Cathedral. There, the body lay in wait until the funeral began at 1 this afternoon. The police officer of 26 years was buried with full honors.

ASP Yearwood has been the department's communications officer on and off for decades, most recently taking up the position again in 2021. He's the face you see on every Monday newscast, recapping the crime events over the weekend.

He passed away on Holy Saturday, after spending the day watching the Cycling Classic with his family. Later in the night, he suffered a massive stroke and ultimately passed away on Tuesday. A number of home members spoke pressingly of him at today's sitting.

Yearwood leaves behind his wife and nine children.
