UDP Leader Shyne Barrow was the guest on Uncut last night - and it was quite a show as he and host Jules Vasquez sparred endlessly.
Jules asked him if his position on Brad's Boledo had changed since he first criticized it last year:

"I completely support the tax on Brad's because that is an example of what I said earlier. Taxing those people that are making millions and millions and millions of dollars certainly on Brad's would fall under that category. So I have no difficulty with them implementing that tax should have been implemented for years."

"Is this new evolved version of Shyne? Does he still associate himself with those brash remarks?"
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"I don't divorce myself from that statement. That has nothing to do with canceling a legally binding contract. Those are two different scenarios. You, sir, you cannot."
Jules Vasquez
"But the government answered it because the contract is inherently declared, is inherently unfair to the people of Belize."

"Did I say that?"

"No, sir.

"Exactly."
Jules Vasquez
"But you did say that in different words because you said, oh."
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"No, no. You're telling me these people are."
Jules Vasquez
"You said these people should have been making millions and millions of dollars."

"Taxing the people themselves."
"So what the government needed to do is find cures and remedies that are legal, that are in the bounds of the law. Canceling a legal agreement is only going to cost the Belizean taxpayers a tremendous amount of money.

"Are you backpedaling on this?"

"You just asked me about a statement. You asked me if I disassociated myself. I told you no. And I explained to you that any cures or any remedies that the government of Belize wanted to implement as far as Brad's Boledo needs to be in the realm of legality. That is my issue.
