7News Claims Two Finalist Spots In First Investigative Journalism Competition

The finalists in Belize's first-ever investigative journalism prize have been announced, and Channel 7 has claimed two of the three top spots.

The stories under consideration are news director Jules Vasquez's Disaster At The David L. Mckoy Building and reporter Cherisse Halsall's Bricks and Cones At Immigration.

Also in consideration is News 5 reporter Marion Ali's 2-part feature on Contraband.

A release from the competition today described the prize as one that quote, "seeks to recognize and reward courageous and dedicated journalists who watch, chronicle, reveal and hold to account the people and forces that work against equity, transparency, civility and good governance in our nation."

The Winner of The Belize Journalism Prize will be announced on June 3rd at a screening held by the competition's organizers.
