Tortured As A Teen, Killed As An Adult
posted (June 6, 2023)
Back in 2021, a video showing a minor being brutalized went viral. It was modern day torture, and the only reason the victim survived was because he managed to escape. However, even at the police station, he underwent another round of subhuman treatment.

But Trevor Thompson moved past that incident. He had been living in Ladyville until he lost his job, and decided to move back to the city for a few weeks.

But his plans of going back home were destroyed after he was shot and killed last night. It happened right outside his mother's house, and today, she still didn't know why her eldest son was targeted. Courtney Menzies spoke with her today and has the next story - but we warn you, some of the content is graphic - because of the unfortunate life this young man led. So, if you have children watching - this would be a good time for them to take a break. Here now is our story:

At only 16-years-old, Trevor Thompson was brutally tortured by grown men. He was beaten with a stick, electrocuted with a live wire, and had his finger cut with a knife.

After that, he was double victimized when he was filmed examined by police like he was less than human, certainly not a minor who'd just been tortured.

But though he survived that ordeal, two years later at only 18 years later was gunned down - as shown in this video provided to us by his family.

Thompson had gone out to buy food for his mother last night, just before 7:30, and that was the last time she saw him alive.

"My son came to visit me, he said, ma, what will we eat? And then I told him we will eat some bun and cheese and sausage, he said a joke, he said, ma, you don't eat that, you will eat steak, I said, yes, we will eat this. So he just went to buy the bun and the sausage and cheese and soft drink and by the time he reach right back in front of the house, they just shot him and he dropped on top of the bun and things."

And according to his family, Thompson wasn't a hardened gang member - he was just a teenager trying to get by. He wasn't trying to weave his way around the streets because he never thought he was be a target - especially since he didn't even live in the city.

"But he isn't into messing with anybody or any of that so I don't really understand why they targeted him because he lives in Ladyville, he's been down here less than a month, like three weeks because he lost his job that he had so he came down here to chill out with me a little then he said he's going back home so it's not like he was affiliated around here or anything like that."

"My son willing to help anybody in anything. Anytime you ask him to go buy, ask him to do you a favor, anything, he is willing to do it for you, he's always a helping person. He was really a troublemaker. He got into a trouble in the past but that was not his fault, it was just some guys but other than that he isn't really a trouble person."

But though she says he's not one to make mischief, the torture he endured as a teen forever altered his life.

Voice of: Janet Seawell, Mother of Deceased
"I won't tell any lies, from that happened to my son, I don't think he was the same again. He was very angry inside himself, but I won't say he was messing with people but from that thing happened, my son was never the same again, never. He wasn't the same again because that happened when he was a child, only 15, 16, and you know, just the same thing, he was hanging out with his friends and they same guys sent him to buy and then they took advantage of him."

And while most families would cry out for justice, Thompson's mother doesn't have much hope of that happening. She just wants the violence to stop.

Voice of: Janet Seawell, Mother of Deceased
"I am trying because at the end of the day, yes, right now people are talking about it but by next week, this will already be forgotten, it sounds sad but that's the reality in Belize. I would really want maybe the police try get justice or whatsoever but I won't stress myself out over it or whatever because I know how it goes in Belize and I just want to put my son to rest and hope everybody sees what's happening, try to stop hurt each other and things because it's just the mothers and the families out here hurting."

Thompson had no children, but had several siblings.
