And to add to all the noise, the Leader of the Opposition,Shyne Barrow has written an open letter to the Prime Minister - who left the country on official business today.
The 1400 word letter outlines the pickle which the Prime Minister finds himself in regarding the Portico Definitive Agreement which his Ministry took to Cabinet. Barrow then adds, "I understand even your Attorney General Magali Marin Young told you the definitive agreement was illegal therefore non-binding on the government."
In this regard, we note that reports at this hour say that the Attorney General, Magali Marin Young, intends to step down from her post imminently.
Shyne alleges to the PM, quote, "your public pronouncement in March 2023 that the Definitive Agreement is "binding" on your government because it was signed by the previous government is squarely contradicted by your Attorney General and your own past actions."
Barrow asks, quote, "when the affair was exposed by the media, you backpedaled saying the Agreement could not fly. If it could not fly and was "scandalous" and your Attorney General told you it was non-binding, why did you urge Cabinet to approve it?...he adds, quote, "No one in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development had the power to present this reprehensible definitive agreement to Cabinet but you."
