He Survived Cartel Abduction But Martinez Says Belize Cops Didn't Care
posted (July 14, 2023)
Last night you saw our exclusive interview with Cecil - who was held hostage for 12 days by the Cartel in Mexico in early June.

When the video emerged of him being whipped by one of the Cartel members as a proof of life to his family it spread like wildfire across WhatsApp.

But some felt it was staged - including members of law enforcement - who, the ex-cop Martinez says, didn't try to help him in any way.

He chalks this up to what he feels is a personal grievance that they Commissioner of Police has against him:

Cecil Martinez, Taken By the Cartel
"And to the ones who feel that it was staged or it was a set up or whatever, who would put themself in, in that kind of danger, you know just. I mean it's really absurd, I mean people have, yes. People have their own you know opinions or whatever but you never know how the problem feels until it hits home."

Jules Vasquez:
"And then was the Belize police department with whom you've had a, your own history over the years, was the Belize police department of any assistance to you or the embassy in Mexico?"

Cecil Martinez, Taken By the Cartel
"Um, I, I know that my family reached out to the Ambassador Mr. Oscar Arnold. He was very, very, very, helpful, um, um, and in regards to the police department, I mean they weren't helpful at all, you know, I mean, I mean the Commander and Chief himself has something personal against me, I mean. So he was just being petty, Belizean term petty, I mean, I saw the interview he gave saying that he doesn't know if it's real or if he tried to make contact with my family members at no point in time did he contact anyone of my family members and I have two brothers who are serving members of the police department and not even them, you know, he contacted."

"Only my Dad is in Belize, my mom is in the U.S. as well, so I mean he didn't even contact, you know, my brothers to try to see what was going on or I mean I saw this, because then the whole thing is, I told my Dad you know I mean please just keep it on the low because then if it explodes, you know I mean, we will probably be in more danger."s

"I felt away listening, seeing the interview that the COMPOL gave in regards to my situation that he doesn't know if the video is real, he doesn't know if the video is fake. If he had contacted my family they would have shown him all the Western Union receipts they are sending like this is it, so how would you come and say you don't know if it's real, you didn't, you didn't attempt to see if it is real, or whatever people are saying, if it was staged, which in, you know that is all bullocks."

We will seek out comments from the commissioner at our next interview.
