A shooting in Hattieville has left a 25-year-old tour guide injured and hospitalized. Tyler Lewis was shot in his abdomen and his back last night, and now his family is hoping that he will make a full recovery.
But while Lewis' shooter is still on the loose, his family is questioning why he was lured outside his house and targeted.
Courtney Menzies spoke with his sister and has this story.
25-year-old Tyler Lewis is currently recovering in the hospital after he was shot in twice last night around 11:30. According to his family, Lewis was inside his Hattieville home when a strange voice called out for him. We spoke to his sister via Zoom:

"I know he was inside and someone went and called for him and he was asking who it was because he didn't know the voice, he kept asking who was it, who was it, and I don't know what led him to open the door but as he opened the door that is when the shots were fired because we have a grill door and a regular door but the grill door, the burglar bar door was still locked so I guess that's what helped him too cause… yeah, so he didn't even know he got shot, he just fell on the ground."
Lewis is now in a stable condition and his family is waiting until he can be discharged. And while they have been deep in worry all night, they're also confused as to why Lewis was targeted.

"It has been a shock to us, I haven't slept as yet, I came home from work last night and I still haven't slept as yet. And my family, the same thing, as the incident happened, they were there in the hospital, they waited for him to come out of the operating room. Right now they're still there. We have family support because we all know that my brother is not like that."
"My brother is not a troublesome person. So we all are left with questions like why, why him? But in this world today what I've come to notice, it doesn't matter if you do someone something or not, I mean, sometimes it's your friends that you associate with, I don't know, but these gunmen they're not thinking, they just go and target people, innocent people because my kids were at the house as well, what if one of them was with him? Thank God that wasn't the case but they need to start to think."
"There's a whole feud in Hattieville because of one person. Ever since this person has been in the village like Hattieville used to be a peaceful place, Hattieville is no longer peaceful. This person is just creating chaos."
And the police say they're on the hunt for the suspect, but they also believe that the shooting was drug-related.

"He was immediately rushed to the KHMH where he was treated and is now listed in a stable condition. Tyler Lewis identified the shooter so we are looking for one person in regards to this shooting incident."

"What would be the motive?"

"We have established it is drug related."

"So Mr Lewis was involved with those kinds of elements?"

"These two persons know each other and yes that is the information we have."

"And the person that you're looking for is somebody that has had run ins with the law before?"

"Yes, he is known to us so we are looking for him at this time."
Police have not named any suspect - but we do know they are looking for a known suspect - linked to many crimes in the area.
