UBAD, the United Black Association for Development, Educational Foundation In partnership with Breddah Cliff Augustine Youth, Film and Photography, hosted a summer Photography Camp with a group of six children who got a chance to go out and take photographs under the guidance of a professional Belizean American Photographer. The group ended up capturing more than 500 photos, 31 of which were selected and are being displayed in a photography exhibition. Jomarie Lanza has this story:
An array of colorful landscape photography was mounted on the walls of the Imagination Factory this morning. It marks the opening of a photography exhibition titled "Waata and Bush" coordinated by the UBAD Educational foundation. The photographers behind these wistful images are children, who were given disposable cameras and tasked to go out and capture these cinematic pieces. It gives the public a different perspective on art, how the world might look to us differs greatly through the eyes of a child.

"It started as a small idea and a lot like how moms do, you tell them a small idea and they just run with it. That's exactly what happened. So in March I told her the idea , by June that following summer, which is last year we already had 6 kids , 6 children that we started with. We got some funding from Ras Pin and his parents and that's how this camp started."
"So each child had anywhere between one to two rows. One roll of film that's 36 photographs, so every child had at least 50 photographs that they took this summer out of ten rows that 500 photos that we had to pick from. There's only 31 pictures in this show."
"I had the show co-curated. Zodi Noralez my oldest student actually help to put together the order of the show and she actually named all the photographs for this youth Photography show."

"It was the last day, Wednesday and why i like it is because nobody else took this picture without the person falling into the water but then i timed it right and I got the person swinging."

The Breddah Cliff Augustine Youth Film Photography Camp Exhibition will open tonight at 7:00pm and end at 9:00pm
