Remanded For The Murder Of His Son-In-Law
posted (August 3, 2023)

He killed his daughter's abusive common law husband, and tonight 40-year old Derrick Bull is in jail thinking it over.

The Guinea Grass resident was arraigned today at the Belize city magistrates court on a single charge for murder, after he shot his son in law dead on Monday night. He's seen here waving goodbye - and he goes up to face what could be a long period of remand.

The deceased 19 year old Jael Jiminez, had gotten into an argument with Bull's daughter, Brianny Bull, which then escalated into a physical scuffle between the couple - a regular occurrence according to the victim's mother.

And Bull had heard it one time too many - it seemed. He made his way across the village to his daughter's home, where he pulled his licensed firearm and shot Jimnez one time to his chest. Bull then strode out of the house without saying a word to anyone.

He appeared before Magistrate Mannon Dennison this afternoon in court, along with his attorney Dickie Bradley who spoke about the arraignment and the situation for both families who share a 1 year old grandchild whose lost a father :

Dickie Bradley, Attorney
"We had a little times when we got him down to Belize City to be arraigned in front of a magistrate so that in fact he does not have to remain at the Orange Walk police station. Magistrate Dennison explained the court procedures and legal procedures for him. He was not called upon to plead guilty or not guilty, because this is an indictable matter where the jurisdiction lies in what used to be called the Supreme Court."

"The High Court or Senior Court and he is remanded until October, the 26th day of October when he will be taken to the Orange Walk Magistrate Court for a further adjournment and for several adjournments and the disclosures is available until a preliminary inquiry is held on until the matter is sent up to the High Court."

Bull will re-appear in court on the 26th of October
