Tonight, we begin with news of a tragic road traffic fatality coming from the south. A 6-year-old girl lost her life in Hopkins around midday after she was reportedly knocked down by a Lucas and Son Butane truck. According to a resident from the village, Makaya Magdaleno was riding her bike one street away from her home when she was struck by the vehicle, near the Northside of Hopkins. Young Makaya reportedly died on the scene.
While we are following this story, our records show that it's not the first time a Lucas and Son Butane truck has killed a child. Back in June 2020, 10-year-old Steven Torres - also on a bicycle - was hit by a Lucas Truck in Libertad Village and succumbed to his injuries.
