And, before we go to break, we note the passing of a former journalist colleague and noted columnist and writer, Glenn Tillett. His sister Karla confirmed that he passed away this morning at the KHMH, after he was hospitalized on November 5th.
Tillett had a long and well publicized battle with chronic renal failure. She says, quote, "Our family is heartbroken at his passing. An entire nation has lost an icon, a literary giant and an institutional memory. He will live on through his writings. His contribution to Belize was great." End quote.
We note that Tillett had a brilliant, and career-defining run as editor in chief at the Amandala through the 90's in the heyday of print journalism. His nightly pen was, at the time, rightly feared by those in the corridors of power.
The 64 year old Tillett had two daughters, and no funeral plans have yet been made.
