An American man and two English tourists were tied up and robbed early this morning. The incident happened at Oasis Camp Site on Mile 31 on the Hummingbird Highway- near St. Margaret's Village. The owner of the site, 35-year-old American, Robert Speckman, told police at around 12:30AM, six men armed with a gun and machetes attacked him while he was lying in a hammock.
His worker and the two tourists who were staying at the site were also tied up and their tents were ransacked. The robbers managed to get away with $9,960 worth of items, including cameras, cellphones, and other electronic devices, and a motorcycle.
Notably, Speckman told police that he recognized the voice of one of the robbers, who he believes previously stayed at the camping site.
