Does "Restructuring" Mean Firing For SISE PUP Employees?
posted (March 21, 2024)

Going back now to last night's Uncut with twin towns' Mayor Earl Trapp - who won a fourth term on March 6th - Jules asked him about changes in the council now that the UDP has taken back control after the PUP held 5 of the 7 seats for the last three years.

Well, he says, the council will also be facing some… "restructuring." That's how the mayor called it last night when Jules asked him about the PUP staffers that had been hired over the past three years.

He didn't come right out and say he would terminate them, even though Jules tried to read between the lines:

Jules Vasquez:
"Will you fire PUP loyalists that were hired in the last three years?"

Earl Trapp, Mayor, SISE
"We are going through a restructuring process."

Jules Vasquez:
"That sounds like retrenchment. That sound Esquivel-ish."

Earl Trapp, Mayor, SISE
"We are going through a restructuring process."

Jules Vasquez:
"That sounds like firing to me."

Earl Trapp, Mayor, SISE
"Restructuring."

Jules Vasquez:
"You're turning that one on me."

Earl Trapp, Mayor, SISE
"Restructuring. We are restructuring the entire council."

Jules Vasquez:
"Also known as, if you ain't red, you're D-E-D."

Earl Trapp, Mayor, SISE
"No we're restructuring to make it more effective and efficient."

Jules Vasquez:
"And red."

Earl Trapp, Mayor, SISE
"In providing the best service for the people."
