Tonight the approximately 7,500 voters in Toledo East should be preparing for a constituency bye - election in 35 days.
The Prime Minister today told the press that July 17th - which also happens to be his birthday - has been decided as the day for the bye election to elect a new area representative to replace the deceased Mike Espat.

"Yes I think we are looking at. I don't know if I should say it now. I've asked for the rit to be prepared and the date I have set after consulting with the elections and boundaries commissioned to see when they can get ready the voters list I would want to have it as ready as possible. The date is going to be July 17. It's going to be my birthday, so I will be working on that day in Toledo East."
A Writ of election is expected to be issued in the next few days.
The election will be contested by the recently elected PUP standard bearer Osmond Martinez, the UDP's Dennis Wiliams as well as the PNP's Will Maheia.
