Murdered Four Months After His Brother Was Killed By Cops
posted (July 8, 2024)
Tonight a family in the west is mourning a second slain member, months apart.

His brother died by the barrel of a gun, and only four months later, 41-year-old Clint Castillo was killed the same way.

Jomarie Lanza went to Cotton Tree Village today to find out more about this weekend's murder. Here's what she learned.

Death has been no stranger to the Castillo family in Cotton Tree Village these past few months. In March, the younger brother, Cruz Castillo was killed in a police shootout, after he was believed to be the main suspect in a murder.

And now his older brother 41 year old Clint Castillo met his untimely demise on Saturday night, reportedly shot and killed in the presence of three other men he knew. His aunt said she had warned him time and time again.

"I always tried to talk to him because he likes to Mess with people. I told him he needs to try and stay away from people that always gets into problems because sometimes maybe it's not even you they want to come at and then you get hurt because you are hanging out with that person. I talked to him so many times and he didn't listen. I don't know but from since his brother died, when the police caught him and he died. I don't know what to say because it seems like he was just gone from himself. Like he didn't care anymore after his brother died."

"How long does it have since his brother died?"

Irene Buddan, Aunt of Deceased
"About 5 months. But I spoke to him and he was just here about 4:00 that evening."

"So you saw him yesterday?"

Irene Buddan, Aunt of Deceased
"Yes I saw him he was here 4:00 in the evening he was working out there by the lane they were breaking down someone's house a cement place in the yard and he came here to ask for some stuff we here he got what he needed and went about his business. Never knowing that the following morning I would hear that somebody shot him and he died."

Buddan says Castillo was a father of three, but also had a drinking problem. She believes that the pattern of death among her male relatives is like a curse - one which they can't seem to overcome before burying another loved one.

Irene Buddan, Aunt of Deceased
"He always worked hard, when you ask him to do something he would do it for you but he has this problem with drinking. And when he drinks you can't talk to him at all. He just needs a little bit of rum in his head and no one can talk to him."

"The thing is I don't know if it is a curse on their family but seriously, someone shot his dad, someone shot his brother and then now they shot him. So I don't know what to say. I tried to talk to Clint so much times."

"It's not even that Miss you know just the other day, last year I lost my mom and sister too but at least they were sick but right after that I lost Clint's brother and now him. It's too much, too much things to deal with too much death, I don't know how you can say that you will get through so much things that knocks you so much times."
