Budram To Court On Molestation Charges
posted (July 19, 2024)
A year after the news broke of Mervin Budram, a prominent Gospel singer's multiple accusations of the sexual molestation of minors, he was summoned to appear before the High Court in Belmopan this morning.

His trial for 13 complaints of aggravated assault of an indecent nature was scheduled to start -and one of his victims, Rebecca Stirm Lennan was expected to testify against him. She is one of 5 alleged victims that came forward.

But there was no testimony, because today's brief court session was adjourned and his attorney Arthur Salvidar explained what occurred.

Arthur Saldivar, Attorney
"Well the matter had to be adjourned there was some issues that took place outside the control of the DPP who was the prosecutor in conduct for the matter and she was required to be in the Supreme Court over an extended period. Outside of that the magistrate on her own position has requested submissions on a preliminary point of law that she finds necessary. So that's where we are with the matter at this time."

"If necessary it should be in September if necessary and there is no guarantee of that is going to be the case."

Budram is expected to return to court on September 13th.
