Motorcyclist Killed Trying To Overtake At High Speed
posted (July 29, 2024)
Another man has been killed in a motorcycle accident over the weekend. It happened around 10 on Saturday morning at the Spanish Lookout entrance when a dump truck turned right on the Iguana Creek Road. A motorcycle traveling at high speed attempted to overtake it on the right side and crashed directly into the truck's back wheel.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the male driver dead on the street. They also observed that the motorcycle had no valid insurance, license sticker, or license plates.

And today the ComPol said that the main reason for these motorcycle accidents is drivers that don't pay attention, like in this case.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Inattentive or they make the wrong move."

Courtney Menzies:
"So the blame is usually on the motorcycle drivers?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"For example the one in Spanish Lookout over the weekend. There's a video footage of it and it shows clearly where the rider was not paying attention, the truck was already turning into the compound and he just went straight into the vehicle. Had he been paying attention he would have seen the truck was turning and he could have avoided that accident but that's the issue we are seeing."

In regards to the other recent fatal motorcycle incident, which occurred in the city and took the life of Michael McKenzie, police are still investigating since they say it was McKenzie who ran the stop sign.
