And two important people we did not see at the UDP's National Party Council meeting are First Deputy Hugo Patt - who is reportedly travelling and Cayo Mayor Earl Trapp.
Trapp told us candidacy today his party is in a shameful shambles:
Earl Trapp, Mayor of San Ignacio
"Basically I believe that our party are in shambles we are at the point of honestly being destroyed and what I was hoping is that this letter would have sent a strong signal not only to Mr Patrick Faber but to the 31 delegates you know we need to look at the bigger picture the bigger picture one where we see that the party is bigger than us. Another one they have not been seeing is the poor, the large number of UDP supporters that are suffering. I am trying to show them this and if they fail then I am not to blame I was just trying to do my part and my disappointment was that i submitted this letter for the chairman and half an hour later it was leaked out you know and so in that I was very disappointed and moving on one two three days later I began to receive a lot of texts you know everything in support of Mr Patrick Faber. So that is what prompted me to rescind the letter and ask for everyone to come together. But as you saw what happened on Saturday I wasn't there it was very chaotic and sad but it's reality it's sad and it is a shame."
"We might not like each other but the least we can do is respect each other so Mr Faber might not like Shyne as the leader but at least respect him as the leader and let us move forward and I mean let nature decide where we are going but that basically it we might not like each other but let us respect each other."
"But definitely in the way it's going it doesn't look good for us as a party."
