The Commissioner was also quick to condemn a disturbing video that emerged on social media after the carnival. It shows a young boy - appearing no older than 7 - dancing and "whining" full contact behind an adult female reveler - in the open street and plain view of spectators.
In his post, the commissioner (who is abroad) writes, "that video...is tantamount to an assault of a sexual nature upon that child. If we as a society do not see something wrong with such action then certainly something is wrong with us. The Police must at the very least bring in the child, his parents and "social" to address this matter."
The Minister of Human Development and Families and the National Commission for Families and Children sent out a statement saying they, quote, "unequivocally decry and condemn the recent inappropriate public display of a sexual nature involving a woman and a child...This incident...has sparked significant concern among the public as it highlights a very troubling disregard for the safety and wellbeing of minors and the public in general. This lewd display involved a child in a manner that compromised his privacy and exposed him to undue scrutiny and potential harm...This display...set a dangerous precedent. The Ministry and the NCFC will seek legal advice on how to proceed with this matter...
