posted (September 11, 2024)
They've received positive reviews from the commuters in Belize City, but will long punishing district commuters embrace the bus experience?

A press release says the EMobility Pilot Project is expanding operations to inter district traveling. Three new E buses have arrived in Belize and they are to be deployed for western and northern runs.

The release boasts that they will provide more affordable, reliable, and modern energy-efficient transport. These buses are set to hold 35 passengers, equipped with air conditioning, seat belts, onboard Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, and a camera monitoring system.

But, who will profit from it? The press release states that "The inter-district E buses will be managed and operated by the private sector under a two-year contract."

A Request for Proposal (RFP) has been issued to select a bus operator, with the goal of having the e-buses fully operational by December 2024.

So, the field is open and private operators interested in managing, operating, and maintaining the three electric buses for the western and northern corridors are encouraged to submit their proposals by Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 5 pm."
