PM Calls For Climate Justice At Summit For The Future
posted (September 23, 2024)
Prime Minister John Briceno left the country on Independence Day for high-level meetings at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

His first address was to the UN Summit of the Future where he spoke about the urgent call for action on climate change:

John Briceno, Prime Minister
"The world faces a triple planetary crisis and a development crisis. Human and planetary capacities are approaching limits from which there may be no rebound. Our development and climate goals are slipping farther away from our reach. And yet, there has been no effective global response."

"My country, like other small island developing states, still lack representation where decisions are being made on our behalf. As a placebo, we may be given the privilege for a five minute intervention on a matter that have will have consequential impacts on our future."

THE PM returns to the country on Friday, 27th September.

DEPUTY Cordel Hyde is acting Prime Minister.
