Former Belmopan Mayor Sheran Palacio has been hammered for the past two weeks for the role she played in discounting the price on parcels of municipal lands at the Innovabel Housing area to friends, family and councillors.
Well, today she finally issued an unapologetic statement - which she sent to us via WhatsApp. It says "I am not surprised that the current Mayor and his cohorts are investing time and energy trying to erase and minimize my legacy....I am also not surprised that lands which were all gotten by the wealthy will never see the light of day. Poor people need land too."
She adds, quote, "Let it be known that past Mayor Sheran Palacio has not gained a single copper from any land allocated to any of the current owners…you will see that the recipients included persons from all ethnicities, color, gender and political persuasion…And for this, I will stand firm unapologetically." End quote.
