San Pedro started off as a fishing village more than a century ago but in the past four decades it has exploded into a bustling town and top tourist destination. But while tourists can have their pick of hotels and restaurants, locals, and those who migrate there to work in the tourist sector are having difficulty finding land to live on.
According to the area rep, a lot of land - including waterfront and mangrove filled areas - were sold off during the UDP administration - particularly in the months leading up to the 2020 elections.
But he added that he and the Town Council are scouring the island to find land for the residents.
