Expanding Awareness Of The Ombudsman's Role

And, finally tonight - the Ombudsman's office invited students and the general public to the Memorial Park today to observe what's called "Ombudsday". It's awareness raising about this important office which is established to "receive and investigate complaints by any person or body of persons who claims to have sustained injustice, injury or abuse or other wrongdoing by an authority."

The man himself told us it's a global observance:

"Its an opportunity and a day that is set aside for ombudsman across the world to be able to sort a showcase the work that has been done to ensure that every citizens within the respective jurisdiction in particular in Belize becomes more aware of the work that the ombudsman does."

"You're seeing today that we are also collaborating with other organization so together we are better able to serve the interest of the people of Belize as it relates to fairness, as it relates to Justice, and for them to be able to get the kind of services that they deserve from the public authorities."

"We are looking to conduct some videos if you notice we have students here we've also visited those schools with a view to get specific dates so that then we offer training opportunities we have certainly confirm with the Saint Johns College and Wesley college and the work is ongoing, and we have also visited Dangriga with Delisle who have all agreed."
