Cotton Tree resident, 28 year old Lorenzo Maldonado was driving a car towards Yo Creek village when he made a U-turn. That's when he had a collision with the Lifan motorcycle driven by 24 year old Yo Creek resident Edgar Gongora whose injuries proved to be fatal. Police told us more about the collision:

"On Sunday, the 13th of October, 2024, there was a fatal road traffic accident at San Antonio Road in Orange Walk. Police visited the area where they saw a motorcycle extensively damaged, and a Mercury four door car with damages."

"Information is that Edgar Gongora was riding his motorcycle when he attempted to overtake the Mercury car driven by Enrique Maldonado. He hit the front portion of the car and caused him to lose control of the motorcycle."

"He fell to the ground and he received injuries. He was taken to the hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries."
