Gongora sustained major head injury and later died at the hospital. His father was there and told us in Spanish that he hold no grudge against the driver:

"I feel strongly, I feel strongly that it's part of what God has given and God has taken away from me. And it is a great privilege because of how I feel, because it is not my first child, it is my third child that is leaving me."
