Young BDF Soldier Dies In Motorcycle Collision
posted (October 22, 2024)
Last night a 26 year old BDF soldier was killed in a fatal accident on the Southern Highway. It happened around 6:30 near Jacinto Village - in an area of the highway without proper marking or illumination.

Genaro Che Jr was driving a motorcycle when he had a collision with a Ford Ranger. The soldier appeared to not be wearing a helmet and suffered a massive head injury when he was launched to the pavement. He died on the spot.

Today in his home village of Silver Creek, his family reminisced about his family's breadwinner told PGTV they don't know what happened:

It's a terrible tragedy and made more so for his family because he's not the first "Che" to die on the highway. As you heard his mother mention, on May second, 1998, his father, Genaro Sr - also a BDF soldier - was killed on the Hummingbird Highway in one of the most notorious crimes in Belizean history. A gang of Guatemalan bandits held up two buses and a number of civilian vehicles. They killed Che Sr - who was only 19. At that time, his wife was then 7 months pregnant with Genaro Jr.
