Lemonal Chairman Claims Police Harassment
posted (October 23, 2024)
Reports to our newsroom say that Flowers may have been shot as a product of the Belize River Valley rivalry between Double Head Cabbage and Lemonal. It's no minor feud: two men have been killed as a result of it: Malcom Reynolds and Darnell Talbert. Last night's victim is originally from Double Head.

And today the chairman of Lemonal told us that he's tired of police targeting him whenever these shooting occur:

Mike Anthony, Chairman, Lemonal Village
"Whenever anything happened concerning Lemonal and Double Head, the police are quick to come to my house, you know what I mean? I want to tell the public, I want to tell everybody that I don't have nothing to do with is happening, you know what I mean?"

Reporter
"You know nothing about the shooting?"

Mike Anthony, Chairman, Lemonal Village
"I know nothing about the shooting."

Reporter
"But they believe that its a rivaly that caused the shooting between Lemonal and Double Head Cabbage."

Mike Anthony, Chairman, Lemonal Village
"Well, I don't know if they said that, you know what I mean? I was at home, and I wasn't in the city yesterday, none at all."

Reporter
So, you don't think that has anything to do with the rivalry?"

Mike Anthony, Chairman, Lemonal Village
"Well, no."

Reporter
"And then what the police tell you what they did to you last night after the shooting?"

Mike Anthony, Chairman, Lemonal Village
"When the police came last night, the police asked for an individual who had not even lived at the village, you know what I mean? Yeah. After that, they gone."

Reporter
"They didn't give you no hard time? And you don't feel comfortable to disclose the person?"

Mike Anthony, Chairman, Lemonal Village
"No, no, no. I don't feel comfortable to disclose who they came and ask for, you know what I mean?"

Reporter
"So they feel like that was a suspect?"

Mike Anthony, Chairman, Lemonal Village
"Well, I don't know, you know what I mean? I can't say that."

Reporter
"So what are your opinions on the shooting? Do you feel like that have anything to do with it?"

Mike Anthony, Chairman, Lemonal Village
"No, no, no, no. Well, I really don't know what happened, because that happened in Belize. I don't know anything about that."
