Price Family Estate Says Nearby Development Is Dangerous, Demands Immediate Halt
posted (November 4, 2024)
Members of the Price Family Estate - which includes Clement Usher, David Craig, Dr John Waight, Dr Peter Craig, and Jose "Pepe" Garcia - have written a letter to the PM, raising urgent concerns regarding an industrial development project near their long-established family home on the Philip Goldson Highway. The project, which they believe involves a proposed marina and fuel depot, is reportedly advancing without the required environmental or regulatory clearances.

In the letter they state that the construction on the adjacent land, which sold by a branch of their extended family, have included truckloads of stones being dumped and a zinc fence to reportedly "hide" the activities behind it. There is also a large barge docked close to the Price-Usher family's property, which is only tied to mangroves.

The family says that the barge made Tropical Storm Nadine particularly concerning since they worried it could break loose and damage nearby homes. They add that in the event of a hurricane, that danger is multiplied.

They are also concerned with the dual function as a fuel depot, which goes against the area's residential zoning. The family is now calling for an immediate halt to the project.
