And while accident and injury are straightforward situations for Social Security to respond to, not so for the rise number of cancer diagnoses, especially in women.

CEO Leroy Almendarez says they are observing a trend:

Jules Vasquez:
"What are they eligible for? Is the fund noticing that more persons are are, requiring payments for cancer related illness?"

Leroy Almendarez, CEO - SSB
"There is, there is an increased prevalence. And there are two ways that that gets addressed. Remember no, due to illness, you can also be unable to work anymore. The question is whether or not you have reached retirement age because retirement age is at 60. If it's prior to that, then that's why we have grants and pensions, right? You can get a lump sum grant or something like that. The other avenue that we use Jules is, is that we have our Social Security development assistance. Because of the prevalence, there are many, there are many, not only women, but men as well who have cancer as a cancer cases or cancer cases."

"And there are locations that are given to that committee to assist these individuals as well."
