Corozal police are on high alert after the home of two of their own was shot up last night. It happened in the Finca Solana area of Corozal Town where 35 year old Corporal Martin Marin who is assigned to the Corozal Police QRT told investigators that he was preparing for bed at approximately 11:30 when he heard four gunshots. Marin dashed out of his home and heard a motorcycle speeding off.
When he looked in the yard, he saw that a Jeep Cherokee parked in the garage had been riddled by bullets. The vehicle belongs to a police Inspector Kimara Lopez - who lives at the same address. The SUV had two bullet holes, with one bullet piercing through the rear of the vehicle and exiting via the front windshield. Additionally, a bullet hole was observed on the screen door of the house. Several 9mm expended shells were recovered from the street. No suspects have been identified at this time, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
