Two men were knocked down and killed in the Orange Walk District over the weekend. The first happened just after 7:00 on Friday night when 57 year old Luis Ku of August Pine Ridge, was reportedly staggering on the road from Trinidad village to August Pine Ridge. The driver of a black Chevrolet Colorado Pickup, 23 year old Bernhard Redecop hit Ku who was walking on the right side of the road. Ku died on the spot from the impact.
The second fatality happened on Sunday night at around 6:00 pm between miles 57 and 58 on the Phillip Goldson Highway. 67 year old Fabio Can, was riding his bicycle southbound when an unknown vehicle that was traveling in the same direction hit him from behind, hurling him onto. The shoulder of the highway. Police told us he died on impact:

"Upon arrival they saw the lifeless but a male person with severe injuries, he was taken for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. Information is that he was on the highway when he was knocked down by a vehicle that did not stop. He was identified as Fabio Can of Orange Walk. Investigation into this matter continues."
